3,577 teenage pregnancies have been recorded at public health institutions in five years from 2014 to 2018.
But, according to Senator Paul Richards, that may be a vast underestimation.
Meanwhile, President of the Single Fathers Association Rhondall Feeles lamented the lack of desire from state and NGOs in gathering statistics on teenage pregnancies.
Both men were speaking during a Parliamentary Committee hearing on the prevalence of Teenage Pregnancies and the state’s ability to assist teen parents.
Counselling psychologist Anna Maria Mora meanwhile, highlighted the need for social workers to get more involved in communities, to help prevent issues such as teenage pregnancies.
