Opposition Leader wants Parliament to debate PM’s “Address to the Nation”

The Opposition Leader wants to discuss the content of the Prime Minister’s recent presentation to the nation in the Parliament.

The two part event, labelled by the PM’s Office as an “Address to the Nation”, saw Dr Keith Rowley present PowerPoint slides, as he discussed the state of the local economy.

He also took the previous administration to task over decisions made during its tenure.

In a letter dated January 8th, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar asks that the House consider her request to debate the details of the Prime Minister’s presentation.

Today, she posted to social media that doing so will ensure the PM is held to account for his statements.

She also criticized the address itself, calling it “a self-indulgent show” and “a campaign speech disguised as an address to the nation”.
