Man gets jail time for threatening CoP and wife

    A 34 year old Couva tradesman has earned himself 14 days’ hard labour for threatening the lives of Police Commissioner Gary Griffith and his wife, Nicole Dyer-Griffith.

    Ian Sookram was charged with of misuse of a telephone.

    He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Christine Charles yesterday.

    Back in February 2019, Mr Griffith spoke out on the threats made against his life since taking up the role.

    He said, “It is not by chance that there have been more assassination threats to myself in the last two months than how many Test matches won by West Indies in the last 10 years.”
