The Couva Tabaquite Talparo Regional Corporation is pleading with the Ministry of Local Government to reinstate litter wardens in the area.
Chairman Henry Awong believes illegal dumping is a major concern and contributed significantly to flooding in October last year.
Mr Awong says a lot needs to be done in order to stop indiscriminate dumping in the area, and believes it will ease the flooding to some extent if litter wardens are in place at present.
Mr Awong meanwhile assures that the Regional Corporation is putting things in place to have the minor watercourses cleared by early March.
However he says they still have to collaborate with the Works Ministry to have the major watercourses cleaned, since that is not under their purview.
The Chairman believes the Corporation did well in terms of relief efforts in October last year, but believes more funding or assistance is needed for them to be properly equipped with sandbags and other items.
