Bill Cosby sentenced to 3-10 years in jail

Legendary comedian and actor Bill Cosby has been sentenced to 3-10 years at a state prison for three counts of sexual assault.

According to US journalist Bobby Allyn, the 81-year-old will serve at least 3 years before becoming eligible for supervised released.

However, Allyn notes, “there is no guarantee” he would be released then.

Allyn quoted Judge Steven O’Neill as saying, “I’m not permitted to treat him any differently based on who he is or who he was.”

Cosby has also been categorised as a sexually violent predator and did not make a statement when given the chance.

Back in April, the comedian was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault for drugging and molesting Andrea Constand in 2004.

Earlier in the court proceedings, Cosby’s defense team said a “blind octogenarian” shouldn’t go to prison but prosecutors did not budge.
