Attorney Ashvani Mahabir will replace Gerald Ramdeen as the UNC’s new Senator.
This was confirmed to 103.1FM News today by the party’s Public Relations Officer, Anita Haynes.
She did not give any details about Mr Mahabir’s selection or appointment but said a media release will soon be issued.
However, the Trinidad Express reported that he is expected to be sworn in today at the Senate sitting in time for debate of The Finance Bill 2019.
Mr Ramdeen resigned as Senator after he was detained by police, along with former Attorney General Anand Ramlogan, on May 1st, 2019, on corruption charges.
