New programme to tackle ‘at risk’ males in Tobago

A new youth development programme is being implemented for boys aged 10 to 20, who are considered “at risk” or have social challenges.

The programme, called ‘Men of Valour’, will be rolled out by the THA’s Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour.

According to the Division’s Marlsyn Melville Jack, the programme is designed to empower young men and boys in Tobago.

The Division meanwhile plans to introduce another initiative to tackle bullying in schools, in conjunction with the T&T Police Service.

Another new programme on the cards is for young persons to get exposure to the media.

It’s on radio broadcasting and two participants will be chosen for an internship at a “renowned media house”.

The programme, Media Skills Capacity Building, is free of charge and will allow participants to interact and build their media skills.

The course will be held at one of the island’s seven youth zones – these areas have been refurbished and reopened in recent months.
