NBA: Clippers miss chance to go top of Western Conference with loss to Mavs

Staples Centre, Los Angeles – A big 2nd quarter set up the LA Lakers for a 120-96 win over the Phoenix Suns.

LeBron James scored 22 points and dished out 8 assists, while Kyle Kuzma scored 23.

Former Suns centre Tyson Chandler cleaned the board with 11 rebounds – the most for any player in the game.
Spectrum Centre, North Carolina – In Charlotte, the Hornets succumbed to the “Anthony Davis Show” as the big man scored 36 points and got 19 rebounds.

His performance powered the New Orleans Pelicans to a 119-109 win.
American Airlines Arena, Miami – Hassan Whiteside pulled off his 3rd 20-20 game of the season to take the Miami Heat to a come-from-behind win over the Utah Jazz.

The 7-foot tall centre scored 23 points and got 20 rebounds to keep the Heat close to the Jazz down to the final seconds.

With the score tied at 100-100, the Heat’s Dwayne Wade got fouled with just over 3 seconds left on the clock – he scored both free throws before the Jazz’s Donavon Mitchell missed a three-pointer on the other end.
Wells Fargo Centre, Philadelphia – The Philadelphia 76ers held off a fightback by the Memphis Grizzlies to continue their fine form in the Eastern Conference.

Jimmy Butler proved once again to be an important finisher for the 76ers scoring 21 points while JJ Redick scored 24 in the 103-95 victory.
American Airlines Centre, Dallas – Harrison Barnes led the Dallas Mavericks to a 114-110 win over the LA Clippers at home.

Barnes scored 30 points while DeAndre Jordan pulled off 23 rebounds.

Clippers star guard Patrick Beverly was, for the first time in his career, ejected from the game by the referees after he threw the ball at a Mavs fan who he claimed hurled expletives at him during the game.
AT&T Centre, San Antonio – The San Antonio Spurs had four quarters of basketball where they scored 30+ points as they beat the Portland Trail Blazers 131-118.

Demar DeRozan scored 36 points while his teammate LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with 29.

Portland’s guard, Damien Lillard outscored them both with 37 points but couldn’t avoid the 5th defeat in their last 6 games.
