LG unveils super durable smartphone – the X Venture

A major problem with the smartphones of today is that they don’t always win you over in the durability category.

This can turn away potential buyers, particularly the adventurer – or your everyday butterfingers.

But LG has introduced a new smartphone called the X Venture which it says passed 14 durability tests designed for the US military.

The phone, which has a water and dust resistant body, also boasts of an app called Outdoor Essentials.

It ties together a barometer, compass, activity counter, exercise tracker, weather reporter and flashlight into one central location.

Specs wise, it has a 16-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel, 120-degree wide-angle front camera; a Qualcomm 435 processor; a 5.2-inch display; 2 gigabytes of RAM and 32GB of storage, and a 4,100 mAh battery.

It launched today in North America, but will be in other parts of the world in the next few weeks.

The company didn’t give out an international price but in the US, carrier AT&T will be selling it for US $11 a month for 30 months.

Based on that, a safe assumption might be that the phone could retail for over US $300.

By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ goes for around US $750 while the iPhone 7+ is US $869 for the 128GB version.
