Freeport taxi driver arrested for rape of female passenger

A Freeport taxi-driver has been arrested for the rape of a female passenger.

According to the Police, the woman boarded a green Nissan B14 at St. Mary’s Junction yesterday morning.

After dropping off other passengers, the driver allegedly drove to lonely areas where he raped her twice: once in a bushy area near the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, and then at a bushy area in Preysal.

He then reportedly tied her up, bound her mouth and put her in the trunk.

The victim though managed to untie herself and jump out.

The taxi driver was subsequently arrested in Freeport last night

The TTPS is advising women and children to be vigilant and cautious about the persons to with whom they travel – whether legitimate taxi drivers or PH drivers.
