Former national footballer dies in England

Former national football defender Jlloyd Samuel died a car carsh this morning in England.

The T&T Football Association broke the news via Twitter, adding that “all his former teammates extend deepest condolences to his family in this most difficult time”.

Samuel, is a former Aston Villa and Bolton footballer as well, with Villa also tweeting that their players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect tonight’s match.

Samuel played 169 league games during nine years at Villa before joining Bolton in 2007, going on to make 71 league appearances over four years.

He was capped by England from under-18 to under-21 level and was an unused substitute for a senior international against Sweden in 2004. He decided to represent Trinidad and Tobago, winning two caps.
