Electrical recording of data for Maternity Ward at Scarborough Hospital

The maternity ward of the Scarborough General Hospital will soon begin recording medical data electronically instead of by hand.

According to the THA, PAHO and the WHO recently trained nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals on the new perinatal information system, SIP Plus.

Acting Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Victor Wheeler says this will allow them to standardise the care of clients and reduce the amount of time that it takes for persons to obtain their medical records.

Medical staff will also be able to analyze the data instantly to identify trends in care, high-risk conditions or any issues affecting a segment of the population.

The software will be rolled out throughout the TRHA’s network of Health Centres over the next few months.
