CONCACAF announces new “League of Nations” starting September 2018

T&T football could soon see a lot more action, as CONCACAF announced a new League of Nations tournament starting from September 2018.

The federation says the new tournament is aimed at increasing the amount of competitive football in the region, year round.

It will be based on a league structure including the national teams of the Confederation’s 41 Member Associations.

They will be divided into three leagues, based on their sporting level, with a champion to be crowned at the end of each edition.

Through the league, the teams will also contend for the right to play in championships such as the Gold Cup.

The League of Nations will also inform a CONCACAF ranking system that will be used as the basis for future World Cup Qualifying seeding.
