BREAKING: Famed physicist Stephen Hawking dies

Theoretical Physicist, Cosmologist and Author Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76.

A BBC News report stated that the news was confirmed via a spokesman for his family.

Professor Hawking is regarded as one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists since Einstein.

He was known for his groundbreaking work with black holes and the theory of relativity.

According to the website hawking.org.uk, Professor Hawking is the former Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and author of A Brief History of Time, which was an international bestseller. 

It states that it 1963, Hawking contracted motor neurone disease and was given two years to live.

Yet he went on to Cambridge to become a brilliant researcher and Professorial Fellow at Gonville and Caius College.

From 1979 to 2009 he held the post of Lucasian Professor at Cambridge, the chair held by Isaac Newton in 1663.

Professor Hawking was portrayed by British actor Eddie Redmayne in the 2014 movie “The Theory of Everything” which follows the story of Stephen and his wife Jane’s life, Stephen’s academic successes and his increasing disability.
