Six persons have been arrested for illegal mining in Wallerfield.

During an operation conducted between noon and 3pm yesterday, officers went to Block Five, Moonan Road.

There, six persons between the ages of 53 and 58 were arrested for Processing Without A License and Mining Without A License.

The TTPS says it will continue to conduct intelligence-led exercises to tackle the issue of illegal quarrying, which it says has been linked to gang activities and murders.
