TKR men and women lose to Guyana at QPO

Trinbago Knight Riders Men and Women picked up losses against Guyana Amazon Warriors in yesterday’s CPL and WCPL clashes at the Queen’s Park Oval.

First in the day, TKR Women failed to chase down 133 after bowling out Guyana for 132 in 20 overs – Anisa Mohammed and Marie Kelly took four wickets each before TKR were held to 111/9 in 2o overs.

Star bowler for Guyana, Shreyanka Patil who took 2/15, said the bowlers were confident of victory after the batters’ efforts.

Then later in the evening, TKR Men failed to defend their 172/8 which was propelled by Akeal Hosein’s 44 not out from 35 balls.

Guyana Amazon Warriors got to 175/4 in 19.1 overs, winning by six wickets, on the back of 62 from 43 balls by Saim Ayub and 51 from 40 balls by Shai Hope.

Speaking after the game, Hosein said the team’s catching let them down.

Also chatting about his and his team’s performance was Shai Hope who said the team has been doing well but could still improve.

Up next for the Knights – the women will face Barbados Royals from 2:30pm today and the men will play their Barbados rivals from 7pm at the Queen’s Park Oval.
