Six appear in court charged with insurance fraud

Six appear in court charged with insurance fraud

Six persons have appeared in court, charged with insurance fraud.

The charges stem from an alleged conspiracy to defraud TRINRE Insurance of $151,000 by falsely pretending that a certain motor vehicle was damaged in an accident.

According to Sergeant Totaram Dookhie of the Fraud Squad, fraudulent claims for payment were submitted.

All six accused appeared before Magistrate Charles in the Port of Spain Court today.

They are: 38 year old Anthony Mohammed – a claim adjuster from San Fernando, 38 year old Glenwyn Joseph – a former insurance claim analyst, 31 year old Temika Toussaint – an insurance claim analyst, 30 year old Ricardo Ramdhanie – an operation clerk at car sales firm, 52 year old Totaram Sookoo – the manager of a garage in Rio Claro and Roomel Gangaram a lorry driver from Rio Claro.

They were granted bail to the tune of 300,000 dollars each, and ordered to reappear on August 14th.
