Griffith: Anti-crime policies from 2013-15 can be reignited

NTA Leader Gary Griffith believes anti-crime policies from his tenure as National Security Minister can be reignited if the UNC/NTA/MND coalition succeeds in the Local Government Election.

Speaking last night at joint meeting in Port of Spain, the former Police Commissioner accused the PNM of dismantling many of the policies that made people feel safe.

Mr Griffith noted that, between 2013 and 2015, the country recorded the largest reduction in violence crime in 30 years with him as Minister and Kamla Persad-Bissessar as Prime Minister.

Mr Griffith meanwhile lauded the coalition approach to elections, noting that there have been successes in local politics when parties come together against a common opponent.

The Local Government polls will be held on August 14th.
