Brian Lara Stadium to host CPL Final at a cost of US$1million

The Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba will host the playoff and final match of the Caribbean Premier League in September, at a cost of 6.7 million TT dollars.

The news was announced today by the Sports Minister Darryl Smith, who expressed his satisfaction that the Academy been selected.

He said they will ensure that it will be one of the best finals in the tournament’s history. The last time Trinidad and Tobago hosted the Finals was in 2015 at the Queen’s Park Oval at a cost of approximately TT$24.5 million to taxpayers.

Minister Smith said he has worked closely with Brian Lara to negotiate the $ bid and thanked him for his assistance.

The Ministry indicated that only 50 percent of the fee will be paid in TT cash, with the other half paid in kind including a waiver on the cost of the rental of the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, ground transport from PTSC, Police, Fire, and hotel accommodation, etc.

The Playoff and Eliminator matches will be played from September 5th to 7th while the Final takes place on September 9th.
