Lawrence: T&T deserved more from Costa Rica clash

Last night’s 2-1 loss to Costa Rica in World Cup Qualifying action does not reflect the performance of the team, according to Head Coach Dennis Lawrence.

Speaking following the defeat, Lawrence noted that he has to question a penalty call in the 52nd minute of the game.

At the time, T&T were 2-1 down – forward Jamille Boatswain went down in the penalty area however a foul was not awarded.

Replays showed that his shirt was being tugged on by Michael Umana Corrales.

Lawrence stated that “the only people on the football field that didn’t believe it was a penalty were the officials.”

The result leaves T&T last the six-team final round with three points with just four games left.

The top three teams qualify automatically for the World Cup next year, while the fourth placed team goes to a playoff.
