NCIC hosts music workshop series to celebrate Indian Arrival

NCIC hosts music workshop series to celebrate Indian Arrival

Music is an integral part of culture.

Which is why the NCIC is looking to celebrate 172 years ofNCIC Indian arrival with a music workshop series.

Classes for Lok Geet Vikas begin at 5:30 this afternoon at the NCIC Nagar in Chaguanas.

And these will continue over the course the next few days, until Monday 29th May, the day before the Indian Arrival Day holiday.

Persons are encouraged to come and learn about Indian music and its various aspects – from vocals, to instrumentals, including the harmonium, dholak and dhantaal.

The workshops will be conducted by experienced musical gurus, including Kries Ramkhelawan of Suriname, Mungal Patesar, Dubraj Persad and Ravi Jagroop.

There will also be special workshops on Sohan and Vivaah Geet by Lily John.
