Tech Today: Microsoft beefs up battery life with new Surface Pro hybrid

Longer battery life – something any gadget user would welcome with open arms.

And perhaps that’s why Microsoft’s newly launched Surface Pro laptop/tablet hybrid now has 13.5 hours on a single charge.

That’s a massive leap from its predecessor, the Surface Pro 4, which Microsoft claims had half the battery life.

The new device looks a lot like the Pro 4 but its internal organs have gotten some upgrades.

Microsoft says it’s 2.5 times faster than the Surface Pro 3 and it also has 4G-LTE connectivity.

However, the first new Surface Pros sold will only have Wi-Fi connectivity, so that 4G version will not be available until around September.

The device weighs 1.69lbs and has a 12.3 inch screen – it’s expected to cost USD $799 when it becomes available in June.
