Funeral for prominent policeman carded for weekend

The funeral service for the late acting Senior Superintendent Baldeo Nanan takes place on Sunday.

He died at the San Fernando Hospital yesterday from a brain haemorrhage, at the age of 59.

Acting Commissioner of Police Harold Phillip described Mr Nanan as a career policeman who committed his life to the service of the country.

Mr Nanan was head of the Complaints Division and prior to that, he led the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch.

He also distinguished himself as a CID and Organized Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau detective.

Mr Nanan entered the TTPS on December 1st 1977, and moved up the ranks gaining a reputation for diligence, determination and fairness.

The military funeral will be held in Couva, according to Hindu rites.
