Principal instructed to extend suspension for four Mayaro students

The Principal of the Mayaro Secondary School has been instructed by the Education Minister to extend the suspension of four students recently involved in a brawl.

The four female students were suspended for seven days after a video of their fight when viral on social media.

Minister Anthony Garcia visited the school today and met with the Principal, the area’s MP and the NPTA.

Speaking after the hour-long discussion, the Minister explained the reason for his request.

Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Harrilal Seecharan believes there are some gaps in dealing with indiscipline at the school which must be addressed.

He said the incident could have been avoided.
