UWI Principal gives Debe campus update, Law students protest Faculty move to South

Protesting UWI Law students were today locked out of the Teaching and Learning Complex where the annual Campus Council meeting was being conducted.

According to Geron Paul, PRO of the Law Society, the decision to move the faculty was taken without first consulting the students.

He says the students want their views heard by the campus Principal, Professor Brian Copeland.

Shortly after the Campus Council meeting, Professor Copeland met with the students and assured that they will be consulted.

He told reporters that although construction on the Debe Campus is expected to be completed by August, it is unlikely that it would be in operation for the following academic year.
